5月23日下午2时，这名不速"刀客"出现在成都最繁华的商业街–春熙路上，只见他突然拔出尖利的水果刀一阵乱舞，吓得过路美女们尖叫失声。闻讯赶来的保安、巡警用"人墙"将"刀客"逼在一商铺门口，临近的几家商铺紧急关门，停止营业。

围观的群众越来越多，现场气愤十分紧张。"往后退！"警方扩大警戒线范围。现场群众注意到，参加抓捕的20余名警察中有6名警察手持一把拖把、4名警察提 着盾牌、1名警察背后藏一根木帮……无枪影。他们成弧字型的将"刀客"围起来。"好搞笑哟！警察抓人用拖把！"微观群众七嘴八舌，议论纷纷。

由于"刀客"警惕性相当高，"自我保护"意识相当强，民警多次想伺机抓捕均未能得逞。双方僵持近两个小时，最后一名身穿防弹背心的民警飞身上前，一把擒住"刀客"右手，其他民警一拥而上将其抓获，带回春熙路派出所。

抓捕过程仅仅是一瞬间。但这场棍棒、拖把对"刀客"的大战让围观人群看得实在过瘾。而民警称之所以不用枪抓"刀客"，一是事发地位于闹市区，人多怕误伤群 众；二是"刀客"虽手中有刀，但未造成他人伤害，也未劫持人质。民警使用拖把等工具制服"刀客"，更加人性化，不会伤害他。不过，群众却笑称民警"太有才 了！"
